Southern Fried Cabbage

Southern fried cabbage is a classic that can be used as a side or a main dish! And it is easy to make in a pinch!

Step 1:

  • 2 TB Bacon Fat or Canola Oil (or your preference)

  • 1 lb. Ground Breakfast Sausage (or Sausage Link Slices/Bacon)

Heat the pot, then add oil. When oil is hot, add crumbled ground breakfast sausage and sauté until light brown. Remove cooked sausage from pan into a bowl and place to the side.

Step 2:

  • 2 TB Canola Oil (or your preference)

  • 1 ¼ cup Diced Onion

  • ½ head Chopped or Sliced Cabbage (if your cabbage is very small you may have to use all of it)

Add oil. When oil is hot, add onions and cabbage. Sauté until golden.

Step 3:

  • 1 tsp Creole Seasoning

  • 1 tsp Granulated Garlic

  • 1 tsp White Pepper

  • 1 tsp Thyme

  • 1 TB Red Chili Flakes

  • 2 tsp Vinegar

  • 1 TB Worcestershire Sauce

Sauté until fragrant.

Step 4:

  • ½ cup Chicken Stock

  • Meat from Step 1

Add chicken stock if needed and return the breakfast sausage to the pan.

Step 5:

  • 1 Diced Red Bell Pepper (optional)

  • Salt if needed

Add bell pepper cook until desired doneness is achieved.

Check salt level and add if needed.
